DSC01289DSC01288Eve -AM – light bulb moments with the inside leg steering, upper lower body separation – now a level 5 – tomorrow the race ciruit. Fun morning … Happy New Year.

Frank, Andrew and Areana – PM (no picture today, just the video) … focus on bumps, bumps and more bumps … pole plant to initiate … commit down the mountain … keep open to the downhill … more pressure on the ski forebody is good. And the Latudas roar in 2014 firing on all cylinders!

DSC01280DSC01282Just wrote a long note but didn’t publish, dang. To summary: ‘light bulb” days for Frank and Alexandria, LeAnn’s is coming but not when expected, Andrew has no bones conneted to anything, Areana skiing bumps better all the time and especially when keeping upper body facing down the mountain. This place always more fun with the Latuda Frenzy is in town.

DSC01258DSC01256Pavel and Nikita … last day together, kind of sad. Black groomed runs and intro to black bumps, a few drills. All 5 mountains explored during the 3 days … even learned three words in Russian. Thank you for sharing pieces of your lives and teaching me as I have tried to teach you. We are not done, see you next year!

DSC01249DSC01245Pavel (AM), Nikita (PM) – what a great day, no wind, sunny, warm (mid 20s), crowds but not so much for ski school – much progress. Both Pavel and Nikita a breakthrough day, starting to get how this whole skidding/shaping thing works … black groomed terrain, a few bumps (with Nikita), taking it more down the fall line, stability with skis not being so much on edge, skis moving together at initiation, shuffle turns, pivot turn, hold a line and not so much ‘back and forth’. Hope the two of you will remember today, a blue bird for sure!

DSC01237DSC01230DSC01228Pavel, Nikita, Inga – skied the new peak 6 terrain, good stuff. Lots of shaping with leg steering, more skid and less edge, hips/shoulders/arms/hands/eyes more countered and down the mountain, begin the turn with the new inside ski, pole touch to initiate the turn and body crossover. I learned more about Russian today than maybe they learned about skiing. 2000 turns, a good day indeed.
