DSC02055Joe, Laurel, Peter, Rebecca, Pat, Olive – crunchy day, grey, windy, stayed low, working on drills, hip rotaton and tilt the focus. Last Sunday of the season, lots of ‘mental work’ to simmer over the summer. So much progress over the last 8 weeks … the journey … and ‘the road goes on forever’.

DSC02041DSC02038DSC02030Fran, Jiliian, Renate, Isreal, Theo – level 9, a fast pace crowd. Lots of steep stuff and some technique … hips to the outside of the turn, early edge engagement (especially of new inside ski), focus on uphill hand and arm position, anticipation. Beyond Bowl, Horseshoe Bowl, hike the Peak 8 ridge and down Whacky Shoot, Boneyard. I’m tired, you guys wore me out … a good feeling.

DSC02025DSC02020DSC02016DSC02013JJ, Amy, Joelle, Meg, Christine, Gail, Kay – a good 10 inches of new, what at March day, started the day with poweder, ended the day with chopped up stuff. shin/boot pressure, hand/arm position, even pressure, lower CG, inside ski initiation, counter, CG/ski separation, trees, tactics, bumps with pivots and skid, rhythm, no delay spots (kills the energy from turn to turn). Remember this day ladies … powder and trees now visions into your future.

DSC02002DSC02000Darryl, Catherine, Jack and Olivia – Colorado (actually not many students come to Breckenridge ski school from Colorado). Jack and Olivia first blue – banner day, good job, first of more blues than we could ever count. Mom and dad: hands and arms forward, pole plants, leg steering, ski release, edge release and skidding, balance with athletic foot/knee/shoulder alignment. Today was a pleasure, thank you!

DSC01990DSC01983DSC01982DSC01980DSC01976Dave, Andrew – DC area, level 8. Did we ever find some good bowl sking today … Horseshoe, Peak 7, Peak 6. Simultaneous edge change then begin to steer, balance and pivots, mogul tactics, side slips, 360s, pole balance, hip alignment, completing last 10% of each turn, soften the legs and let the skis follow there natural arc. I might have learned more about guitar than they did of skiing … so it was a good day!
