Leanne, Alexandria, Frank – delightful day to end the year, clear skies, not too cold, good snow. Girls skiing black runs on Peak 10, no ‘jerk’ turns and more movement in the legs. Frank and I hiked Peaks 8 and 7 (missed Peak 6 by 4 minutes … save the trifecta for another day, found some good turns in the Dunes. Happy New Year to all … and to all, game on next year.

Frank, Leanne, Andrew, Arianna – this was an amazing day, not sure I thought it would ever happen … Leanne has found bumps! Frank, Andrew and Arianna skiing some challenging stuff (Needles Eye) working on pivoty turns, holding the line, ‘slide to survive’, one ski, upper/lower body separation, clean release at turn initiation … all of that was major fun that keep the cold at bay and good technique building … but the shocker was Leanne actually wanted to explore bumps … what seven years can do! Rings my bell, this is a new challenge, ok lady, game on …. thank you for being adventurous!

Mattie, Conner, Chuck – St. Louis. Mattie and Conner working on matching after the fall line, softer edge to allow slipping, more weight on both feet, keeping upper body more aligned down the mountain. Chuck addressing quieter upper body to allow the legs to rotate in the hip socket, tip before rotate at turn initiation, ‘ride the ski’ while allowing the legs to support and follow the arc with femur rotation. It was cold but it was fun (what the heck, it’s winter), good progress guys. Enjoy your snowmobile day!

Andrew, Arianna, Alexandria – cold day, whole mountain skiing well. Alexandria: finally understands the ‘jerk’ turn, when it happens, what it doesn’t do for us, can feel the arcing turn when it engages at transition. Andrew & Airanna: Inferno, Windows, Doors, Duke Trees, Tiger Woods, Crescendo with pole balance, Peerless trees, working on blocking pole plants and upper/lower body separation – this has taken seven years to be all mountain skiers, it’s been a great ride, ‘it ain’t over’!
December 27, 2014 – PM
Sam and Amal – Egypt, levels 2 and 4. Sam working on wedge turns (especially the right one) with less edge and more directing both skis together. Amal starting to match, slower motions, completing the turns for speed control, ready for chair 5. Enjoy your ski days, see you in January Sam when you bring your daughters.
December 27, 2014 – AM
Jim, Dottie, Sara, Ashley, Keven – focus on ‘wedge to parallel’, inside ski release, shaping with both feet, slipping while shaping, arm position, pole balance. Quite the cold day … but sunny with blue sky. Jim turning inside ski, Dottie less fearful, Ashley more balanced, Sara the queen of slipping, Keven slowing upper body motions – a good morning all around.
