Bryan, level 9, NYC … the mission explore the mountain, now that was fun. Brill’s Thrill, Rustler, Contest Bowl, Southern Cross, Inferno, Boundary Chutes, Deb’s Alley, Peerless trees … snowing hard, low visibility, 30 kt wind – the best! Hope your 6 year old had a good day and ready for more tomorrow … good skiing in the morninging – gDSC02701o for the Tbar.

Scott, Joe, Jacob – various levels. How to release the inside ski to match, matching in the second 1/2 of turn, release edges simultaneously to skid, shape turn with leg rotation, stay off the high edges angles for now. Scott and Jacob level 5, Joe level 3. Fun talking about liquor distributing and the ins and outs of that business. Enjoy the next two day!DSC02699

Mike, Budda, Sam, Don, Chuck … man camp! Go high and stay high, steeps, bumps, off piste, hard pack, peanut butter & honey sandwiches … initiate with simultaneous edge changes, learn to have a soft edge and smear, learn to have a high edge and carve, upper/lower body separation, COMPLETE THE TURNS, soften the downhill leg (that one for you Don), leg steering to allow the skis to follow their arc. What a day, still some winter snow around … thank you for the beer and friendship!DSC02685DSC02689DSC02690DSC02695

Tom and Caroline, level 6&7, San Antonio, dynamic father/daughter duo. Patience with the turn, let the ski begin to shape before twisting, let the photographer ‘see the zipper’, complete each turn (get the last 15%) for speed control (you are going to need this when it gets steep), visualize the balanced pole on wrists. Nice changes, practice the drills at least 3 minutes each day you ski, good things will happen. Happy Valentine.DSC02679

Olive, Paula, Laurel, Chong, Chris, Mitzi, Jenny, Rebecca – hard to have a day better than this one!! Balance on inside edge of outside ski drills, then add the inside ski for steering, work on inside knee flexion to allow core moving to the inside of the turn creating body and edge angles, arcing the turns (short and medium radius) … Whales Tale, Debs Alley, Upper Toilet Bowl, Peerless … only thing missing – oatmeal raisin cookies at lunch (next time).DSC02662DSC02663

Doug and Rick, level 7 … focus on stabilizing the upper body, pole drills, some theory on hip counter and ‘position’ of strength, video. Snowed most of the morning, by 12:00 ‘things’ were getting good. Visualize the ‘balanced pole’, will serve you well! Fun morning, good to make new acquaintances. DSC02656DSC02657

Laurel, Joe, Olive, Pat, Paula, Mark, Mitz, Bob – Level 9 today! These pictures tell the tale, it just seems to coming together for this group … as I told Laurel tonight, you’ve paid your dues with 10,000 turns and now some rewards are the dividends. Hope everyone is having a glass of wine this evening … well earned and deserved. DSC02623DSC02624DSC02628DSC02643DSC02646
