Angie, Chicago – warm sunny afternoon. Kill the wedge, simultaneous edges, tipping of the new inside ski early in the turn, more skid in every turn, speed control from friction and shaping (compete the turn more up hill), wider turns with more time in the fall line (give time for the edge change and to maintain balance), stand a little taller with less bend at waist, forward pressure on the shins. Enjoy your new skills! Next post for pictures.
February 16, 2016 – Afternoon
Yvonne, Chaz – Mill Valley, CA and somewhere on the west coast of Florida. Less edgy, shape with some slip in the turns, upper body alignment, lead with the inside 1/2 – especially the hips (keep the hips aligned with the feet), pole balance, race course, align the hips/shoulders/arms/hands/eyes with the tips of skis, don’t give up on the inside 1/2 at turn completion (squaring up kills the ability for early/clean edge change). Good afternoon, enjoy your time here.

Theresa, Jamie, Jenn, Cindy – Sharpsburg, GA. First time skiing (except for Theresa), made it to the Poma and a few runs down working on gliding and turning wedges. Guys take another lesson next year when you come out, good movement patterns from the onset are worth weight in gold. Enjoy the vacation.

February 14, 2016 (Afternoon)
William, Dale – VA. Slowing things down at initiation and first 1/2 of turn, pressure throughout the turn, let the ski drift to the outside of the center of mass to get separation from the center of mass, bicycle exercise, more shaping, friction and turns for speed control. Thanks guys, it was a good afternoon.

Mike, Greg, Sam & Chuck – our yearly day to ski the mountain (even though the mountain right now is quite the challenge to ski – hard and wink blown). Early edge change, ‘pass the stick behind the knees’ drill to stay flexed through transition and facilitate quick edge change with skis ‘passing under’ the center of mass, outside ski to outside ski drill, balance on the inside edge of the new outside ski. Some real funky snow now, and what’s not funky is just plain hard. Good day guys, thank you.

Alejandro – New Jersey. Transition from gliding wedge to turning wedge, speed control with a combination of ski/snow friction and turning, getting comfortable with a little speed, not rushing the turns to give time to balance and allow the inside ski to release and turn with the outside ski. Don’t give the sport up Alejandro, it has much fun to offer but will not give up it’s secrets easily.
