Michael, Colorado. More flex in ankles and knees, alignment of upper body with lower body, side slips, pivot slips, arms and hand position, trading up & twist for flex & pressure, bump tactics.

Marty and Caitlin, Wisconsin. Upper body stability, use of arms and hands, reason for pole plant, edge changed BEFORE any type of rotation, get to the new edges right away, bigger shaped turns, less steep edge set and more of a skidded shaped turn, let the hips track the feet, maintain shin pressure and ankle flex, keep both skis on snow and pressured (not equally) all the time. Fun afternoon, see you next year.

Paige, 4 years old, second time skiing. Magic carpet, major splits (she thinks those should be done by ‘older’ people, like 16 or so), EdgieWedgie and it all started to come together, power wedge even a 16 year old would be proud of … skied down Trygvies twice with no help, interesting style – point them straight down until the instructor starts to squirm then throw out the colossal wedge, that was fun to watch. Come back next year Paige and we’ll get rid of the EdgieWedgie.

Danny, Shana, Mike, Daniel, Isabel – Florida and the Caribbean – level 1. This was quite the experience, talk about starting from ground zero … don’t think Daniel and Isabel (and maybe Danny) had seen snow before. Stayed on the magic carpet, everyone riding up and sliding down … Isabel off to children’s ski school tomorrow. Fun meeting all of you, for the chaos of all the gear and putting the piece together for a ski day – I was amazed there were no major issues – it was all fun. Enjoy tomorrow. Mike – blue side up – but that Navajo will do a loop, just give yourself a little room at the bottom.
