Sandra, Houston TX. Level 3 that was stuck with the ‘force the outside ski around to a high edge angle and lift the inside ski’. Now level 4 – almost matching on green slopes. Softer edges with tipping, balance with shin/boot pressure and flexing of ankles and knees (this is big for you, stay forward with arms and hands, don’t lose the shin pressure), how leg rotation works, turn/rotate both feet together to minimize the wedge, skidding is good and part of speed control, keep the turns larger radius for now. Enjoy your week with your dogs and our snow.

No picture, Comcast on the blink. Jason – South Carolina. Learning to: come off a hard edge, not lift inside ski, skid, smear, speed control with turn shape and snow friction, patience at the transition, tipping, power position of hips, rotation of femurs and feet. Great changes, ready for the blues on Peaks 7 and 9!

Dean, Donna, Scott, Linda, Meow, Nick … no picture tonight, Comcast is out there somewhere with Spaceman. Not much teaching, lots of mileage and some really good mileage, off piste most of the day – what flexion in the parts of the turn, commit with the pole plant, use the skis as a platform in the powder and chopped up stuff, DON’T square up wit the hips (kills the turn), have some ‘mojo’ with poles and rhythmh, be more assertive and in charge. Whales Tale, Vertigo (or Deb’s Alley – that would be Death Alley for Meow) … today was some real heads up skiing, the snow punished any mistake (I took a great header on Mule), some Peak Six, chocolate for lunch (thanks ladies). This is level 8 skiing … some rocks, some great snow, no excuses!
February 10, 2018
Meow, Nick, Sohpie, Linda – cold, humid, snowy, wet – but was the skiing every delightful. Being patient, powder skiing, keeping more pressure on both skis, less edgie at initiation, the float, be supple with the legs during last 1/3 of the turn, let the skis do their job. Lots of Crescendo, then some Meadow, Southern Cross. We need about a week of this kind of snow. Good skiing guys!
February 9, 2018
Ernie, Elaine, Bob, Sophie, Paul, Eileen, Terry, Terry, Violeta … today all about bumps. All morning on Dukes, all afternoon on Peerless. In some ways, back to the basics of what movements are needed to ski bumps, any bumps (steep or not so steep) … no turn is in doubt! Think there were some break through moments today, hope so. Delightful day!
February 8, 2018
Laurel, Diane, Rebecca, Paola (and Joe), not much verbiage today, lots of just skiing … Tiger, Peerless Trees, Inferno, Horseshoe Bowl, Rustler, Duke’s Bumps. Coming off the hard edge and more of a smeary shaped turn in the trees, steeps and bumps, feel the float, steer both feet together, never lose snow contact even in the float, more pressure on both skis. Lots of good skiing today!

Catharine, Maria, Kay, Dean, Donna, Scott … this was a good day. Not a lot of technique but a lot of miles. Worked on steep bumps and that first turn – how to get it going, what not to do. Good progress on letting the ski do the work, set the ski up for success and enjoy the ride!
