Cole, Melinda, Hazen, Mabry – Yukon, OH. Afternoon lesson at BC, getting back on the skis, Haymaker gondola and lift #2, turning the wedge, how to match in the traverse, match all through the turn, tipping to release inside ski, skidding, speed control with turns and friction. Delightful progress.

Ted & Trista – Michigan (I think). Afternoon only, hadn’t skied in five years, Haymaker gondola, revisit the wedge then begin right away on matching, tipping the inside ski, leg rotation, simultaneous leg rotation, speed control with friction and turns, sliding/skidding. Good progress for just a few hours.

Laurel – Atlanta. 1/2 day, good snow, cold, double black with bumps and powder, uphill arcs, poles, flexion in ankles and knees, pivots, short radius, how to use the edge, jokes, pole straps, 360s, where to turn on bumps, targeting the next turn.

Ava & Blake – Atlanta. L3 & L4, working on turning, matching, speed control, getting rid of the wedge (one of the hardest things on the planet), 5yrs and 8yrs old, first day with poles for Ava and first solo chair ride. Blake took the jump over by chair #2 three time, just couldn’t quite get the knee bend thing right, some nice crashes – good video of that.

Niko, Naythen, Harris, Jack, Chase, Quinn – Atlanta. Quite the split in abilities, L6 through L9, but all wanted to stay together and were supportive. Six inches new snow, great for building skills, one run on Grouse Mt. black bumps, race course … more flexion, stay lower, shin/foot pressure, arm discipline, a few trees, lots of cell time at lunch – welcome to the teenage worlds.

Tessa & Torren – Arrowhead. Trees all day, Lionshead, Chris photographer in the afternoon to capture some of their skiing. A few bump runs, no teaching (well, just a little maybe), just trees and more trees, some jumps in the trees – those always get the adrenaline going.

Lara, Tessa, Torren – Arrowhead. Lots of new snow, 8 inches or so, Vail today, terrain park for a couple runs, early lunch to beat the DEVO kids, Lions Head in afternoon, Tessa/Torren went one way, Lara/Bob went another way, took about 45 minutes and the whole mountain patrol and lift supervisors to locate and return the missing kids – guess that’s all I have to say about that. Powder was good for technique, not or reliant on bracing the downhill ski, that just doesn’t work, but it’s good cardio.
