Michael – balance poles on wrists, poles on hips, hips countered to the turn …. NOW, complete the turn for shorter radius. Groomed blacks, no bumps ….but, bumps are in the future. Great meeting your family, thank you.

Angie, Angie, Scott – College Station – incredibly warm day – good snow – lots of sun – mushy by mid afternoon. Hip, shoulder, hand postition … how to progress from a step/lift/edge push type turn to a release, steer both feet into the fall line, shape with leg steering and complete each turn (even back up the hill just a bit) for speed control. Be patient at both start and finish of each turn to feel the pressure on both feet, let the feet drift away from the center of mass and enjoy the skidding/shaping sensation of using the skeletal system to support those feet/skis and not the thigh muscles trying to hold opposing edges. Thank you for a great day and kindness – see you next year, we have blue slopes to tackle.

Michael and daughter Maddi – Chicago and George Washington University. Great afternoon with ski technique and good questions. The holy grail of skiing: ‘alignment and balance’. The brain and the brawn – inside ski/outside ski. And a few drills presenting somewhat of a challenge – uphill ski sideslips,360s, pivot turns. See you next year and we’ll just continue this skiing discipline stuff.

Matti, Grace, Mason and Zac from Boerne, Texas – and they are all still speaking to each other after a day on Peak 8 mountain. Good skiing today my new young friends – magic carpet, Rip’s Ride, Poma and chair #5. All the way from pushing around on one ski to parallel turns down Springmeir. Zac, you were the star – from never on skis before to skidding, shaping and turning – most probably you will sleep good tonight. Take care guys – come back next year and let’s ski some more!
