Laurel, Diane, Rebecca, Paola (and Joe), not much verbiage today, lots of just skiing … Tiger, Peerless Trees, Inferno, Horseshoe Bowl, Rustler, Duke’s Bumps. Coming off the hard edge and more of a smeary shaped turn in the trees, steeps and bumps, feel the float, steer both feet together, never lose snow contact even in the float, more pressure on both skis. Lots of good skiing today!

Catharine, Maria, Kay, Dean, Donna, Scott … this was a good day. Not a lot of technique but a lot of miles. Worked on steep bumps and that first turn – how to get it going, what not to do. Good progress on letting the ski do the work, set the ski up for success and enjoy the ride!

Meow, Nick, Linda, Don, Ernie, Catharine. Three pressure points in the boot (or on the foot how every you look at it), balanced and edge grip … Rustler (good to finally get up high), Upper 4 O’clock, Bone Yard, Peerless Trees, Dukes Bumps, High A. Wind once again relentless until about 2:30PM. A good ski day with progress, well done!

Ernie, Elaine, Bob, Paul, Eileen, Terry, Terry. Whale’s Tale was the event of the day – never seen such a sea of wind blown scallops, the upper mountain is a mess right now. Lots of bumps and follow the leader, skidding, sliding, shaping, carving, grip, early edge change, let the ski do the work, taking out the ‘turning’ at initiation. Fun day!

Mitzi, Olive, Rebecca, Chongee, Paula … upper mountain closed due to wind (all the upper mountain), not too cold, late lunch which worked out quite well at Pioneer Crossing. Power steering with tipping from the ankle (increased edge angle, holds edge angle against ‘edge angle wash out’), arms up and hands wider than the elbows, don’t overdo the pole swing by letting the basket go too far forward, solid counter and pole plant in the bumps with EDGE GRIP.

Have a good picture but can’t get it to transfer from phone to computer (think this is a Comcast issue). Dr. Ty and daughter Shelly … more pressure on outside turning ski, skidding is good to help shape and control speed, arm and hand position, body angle to help with ski pressure, control speed with turn shape and snow/ski friction. Back in the groove now skiing blues on Peak 9 – a good morning catching up and learning about LA cooking and hunting.

Paula, Kay, Dean, Catharine, Scott, Donna, Don. Lots of bumps and the different techniques to use (there are as many as there are skiers), where to initiate, how to initiate, get to the new edges then shape, carve, slip, slide, smear, combo some of all … most of all, be deterministic with each turn and have no doubt of the outcome, it in doubt then something went wrong. Aggressive counter and pole plant to hold a bump line, DON’T SQUARE UP!!!! Good day to say the least!

Meow, Brenda, Linda, Don – all about ski/snow pressure, how to get it, how to use it, how to ski bumps and everything else with it. Early edge engagement with whole foot pressure and shin pressure, more flexion through bottom 1/3, transition and top 1/3 of turn, don’t push outside leg to extend – let it extend naturally to maintain snow contact as edge angle is increased through apex, how to counter balance and counter with hips and upper body, use of poles (especially in the bumps to block unwanted rotation of the upper body). This was a red letter day, some good carving turns being made (on groomed and bumps).
