Dave, Andrew – DC area, level 8. Did we ever find some good bowl sking today … Horseshoe, Peak 7, Peak 6. Simultaneous edge change then begin to steer, balance and pivots, mogul tactics, side slips, 360s, pole balance, hip alignment, completing last 10% of each turn, soften the legs and let the skis follow there natural arc. I might have learned more about guitar than they did of skiing … so it was a good day!

Joey, Denny, Ryan – Florida. Upper/lower body separation, pole touch, edge release, lower edge angles for shaping and skidding, speed control via friction and direction of travel (aka, turns). Ryan’s boot break was amazing … definitely a warrenty issue. Have a good vacation guys, you now have ‘stuff’ to practice.

Lora – focus of the day: inside leg steering, how to release, how to tip, commitment, function of the pole touch, weighted release, turn completion, simultaneous leg steering. I know you weren’t so happy with me mid -afternoon – taking you out of the comfort zone to affect change – introducing concepts not that easy to grasp. But … by late afternoon much change with consistent parallel turns with the inside leg now very much a ‘player’ in every turn. A great two days … thank you. Have a terrific summer in your travels!

Lora – Clemmons, NC. Big changes in one day from defensive wedge christe/high edge angle/center of mass too far aft/no pole plant/no waist angulation …. to rhythm/upper lower body separation/pole touch to initiate/inside ski steering/more complete turn shape/carry energy from turn to turn/consistent speed contol/hip angulation/alignment in the front and side planes. You are determined to improve your skiing – first big step today.

Latuda family, all skiing together, monuental day, long time in the making. Peak 6, ‘hike to terrain’ (kind of steep up there), race course, Inferno, lots of photos, trees, more knee flexion, pole plants, open the arms ready for balance and pole plant, softer inside leg, early balance on new outside ski, tactics in bumps and tight trees, rhythm, hip counter …. chocoloate for a snack. Thank you for becoming skiers, you are family!

Irme, Samira and Tahira – three ladies determined to break out and improve. From outside ski initiating the turn to a high edge angle with inside ski ‘stuck’ and needing to be lifted … to new inside ski initiating with flatter skis, more skidding and shaping. Rhythm, arm position, ‘count the turns’ exercise, uphill garlands, new ideas on speed control. You ladies were fairly quiet this afternoon … bet that not the case tonight. One lesson a year … you need more than three days, come for 10 days and enjoy some consistency.
